Chartway Federal Credit Union’s We Promise Foundation Relects on it’s Milestone Year

February 12, 2020 By wepromise

Virginia Beach, VA (February 12, 2020) – 2019 was a magical year for Chartway’s We Promise Foundation. Not only did the foundation work alongside its partners to provide life-changing experiences that bring joy, hope, and smiles to children facing medical hardship or illness, but the foundation also had a outstanding year of its own – raising more than 1 million dollars. The incredible fundraising meant that the foundation had raised 11 million dollars from inception to date!

In 2020 the foundation looks forward to working with other non-profits, who share their mission:
  • St. Mary’s Home for the Disabled, Norfolk, VA
  • Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughter (CHKD), Norfolk, VA
  • Roc Solid Foundation, Chesapeake, VA
  • Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia, Virginia Beach, VA
  • Toby’s Dream Foundation, Virginia Beach, VA
  • Ability Found, West Valley City, UT
  • Make-A -Wish Utah, Murray, UT
Just as the foundation continues to grow, so does the ability to network. The foundation is excited to partner with three new non-profits who also share their mission, in 2020 and beyond:
  • Children’s Assistive Technology Foundation (CATS), Union Hall, VA
  • Community Outreach, Portsmouth, VA
  • Hooked on Hope, Virginia Beach, VA

“We’re so excited to have the ability to bring more joy, hope, and smiles to our local communities.” said executive director Karen Lane. “2019 was such a huge year for We Promise; we celebrated over 8500 wishes coming true and raised more funds than ever, so that we may continue to do just that. It’s all about the Kids Heroes, and we’re proud to partner with more non-profits who share in our vision to help us spread smiles to these heroic kids!”

Since 1999, the credit union’s We Promise Foundation has raised more than $11 million and partnered with companion charities, sponsors, and contributors to provide the financial support needed to make dreams and wishes come to life for children facing medical challenges.
