Dream: to go on a Paleontologist DigJulia enjoyed the entire trip and experience in Montana. They visited 4 museums including the famous Lewis and Clark Museum and The Museum of the Rockies. They spent two days at the Dinosaur dig site. This was perfect amount of time. On Day 1 they were with younger geologists who were fun to be with – had a pun for everything and kept Julia and her Mom laughing and interested. The second day of digging was with an older paleontologist who holds a Master’s Degree. He was more of a teacher and a father figure and Julia learned a lot from him and thoroughly enjoyed the day. Some fun things that happened:
- Came within 10 feet of a Big Horn sheep – very exciting.
- Found several Hadrosaurus egg shell fossils. A Hadrosaurus is a Duck Billed dinosaur.
- Was able to take home two fossil pieces.
- At the end of the trip, Julia was able to meet the family of another child with same condition as Julia. There are not many in the United States – maybe as few as 25 or less. The boy was very shy, but Julia was able to go horseback riding with his adult sister who also has the same condition.
